See the shoot. From the cast’s side.

A timeline tells you what is happening. A Day Out of Days view helps you read when each cast member is involved. In Martini, cast assignments and shoot-day tasks connect those two perspectives.

Give it actual shoot-day tasks

Use shoot-day tasks for principal photography, then assign the relevant cast to those tasks. Merely renaming an ordinary task “Shoot Day” does not turn it into a shoot-day unit. Film and commercial templates supply the starting structure, but you still need to review dates and assignments.

Keep distinct people as distinct cast records, even when their names match. Recheck assignments after moving or duplicating a shoot day. The cast view is only as useful as the production data feeding it.

Read the pattern, not just a total

Start, work and finish codes help show an engagement across dates; a single-date engagement can be marked SWF. Gaps and hold-related statuses depend on the schedule and the cast settings. Check the project’s legend and the underlying dates when a pattern looks surprising.

A blank cell is not a personal availability confirmation. Likewise, a displayed hold does not settle a contract, pay obligation or booking conversation. Treat the matrix as a planning view to review with the responsible production team, not as a substitute for payroll or contractual advice.

Cross-check before sharing

Compare the cast row with the actual shoot-day tasks. Confirm who is assigned, that the dates are current and that a late schedule edit has not made an earlier export stale. A useful review is to follow one person across the entire shoot, then repeat for each principal cast member.

Export the relevant schedule or DOOD view for discussion, and state which revision it represents. The recipient is reading a snapshot; their copy does not automatically update when you change your browser-local project.

  • Confirm task kind and cast assignment.
  • Review work dates and any gaps.
  • Re-export after an accepted schedule change.
